From Queretaro International (QRO)
About 1.5 hour to San Miguel
Private car service is available. From Queretaro International QRO it is $75.00 USD each direction and a van (suitable for 3 or more passengers) is $110 USD each direction. We are happy to make the arrangements for you through the travel company.
From Mexico City International (MEX)
About 4.5 hours total Airport to San Miguel
The least expensive option is to take a Primera Plus from Mexico City Airport to Queretaro Central Bus Station. These are deluxe buses with restrooms. They usually show a movie and offer a sandwich and soft drink. The trip is about 3.5 hours. Bus seats are about $35.00 USD. Buy a ticket at the booth just outside Terminal D.
Bus schedules to Queretaro start about 8:30 AM and continue about every hour until 9 PM at night. Then, from Queretaro Central Bus Station, buy a prepaid taxi voucher at the booth as you leave the terminal. The cost is about $390.00 pesos and the trip takes about 45 minutes. You can also catch another bus from Queretaro to San Miguel for about $40.00 pesos. However, you might have to wait up to 2 hours before the bus leaves. It is a 2nd class bus, very “colorful” stopping at many villages along the way to San Miguel.
The easiest way to get from Mexico City Airport is by combination bus and shuttle. We are happy to make the reservations for you. When you exit Customs at MEX a representative will meet you with your name on a sign. He will then take you to the bus station located at the airport and get you on the bus. When you arrive in Queretaro another representative will meet you as you exit the bus and put you on a shuttle which will bring you directly to Antigua Capilla Bed & Breakfast. The cost of this service is $70.00 USD per person, and the shuttle driver can be paid directly either in $USD or pesos. The main advantage of this arrangement is not having to wait at the Queretaro bus station for the San Miguel bus or arranging for a private taxi. The service is offered every hour.
Or, if your party is larger, a private car and driver can pick you up at the Mexico City Airport and bring you directly to our door. The cost for a normal sedan is around $220 USD. A van for four or five people is also available for $260.00 USD. We are more than happy to make all ground transportation arrangements for you.
From Mexico City Terminal Norte Bus Station
About 4 hours to San Miguel
The ETN bus company will take you from the Terminal Norte Bus Station directly to San Miguel de Allende. These are luxury buses with seats that fully recline, and a movie is shown. There are five departures throughout the day and the price is about $285 pesos. You can buy your tickets at the terminal on the same day of departure.
From Toluca International (TLC)
About 4.5 hours total Airport to San Miguel
The least expensive option is to take a Primera Plus or ETN bus from
Toluca Central Bus Station to Queretaro Central Bus Station. Both
lines are deluxe buses with restrooms. The ETN buses are a bit more
upscale, but offer a more limited schedule. Both lines usually show a
movie (sometimes dubbed in Spanish) and offer a sandwich and soft
drink. The trip is about 3 hours. Bus seats are about $160 Pesos for
Primera Plus and $210 Pesos for ETN. Buy a ticket at the Primera Plus
or ETN counters inside the terminal. To get to the bus station, take a
taxi from the airport for $130 Pesos. Note that taxi fares from the
bus terminal back to the airport are around $90 to $100 pesos
depending on your negotiation skills.
